What is a quest room? In addition to being the most popular entertainment for today’s adult and teenage intellectuals, it is a place where you can present yourself as the hero of your favorite movie and test your wits under rather extreme circumstances.

In today’s society, the phrase quest-room (quest-room, escape room) refers to an intellectual game in which a company of several players are locked in a room. To get out of there winners, they have a certain limited time. And to find their way out, players have to look for different objects and solve puzzles.

Individual quest rooms have different stories and their own, unique atmosphere.

Tasks and clues do not repeat, and if you have already passed one quest room, it does not mean that the other will be less interesting, rather the opposite.

History of quest rooms

The first functional quest room appeared in the United States in 2006. A little later, the idea of creating quests in reality was implemented in many countries in Europe and Asia. Today, what is a quest room is known almost everywhere in the world.

History of quest rooms began back in 1994 with a popular at the time of the computer DOS-game Noctropolis. If you wonder what a quest, the most correct answer is a genre of computer games. Quest is an interactive story with the main character, which actually manages the player. The plot itself is supposed to explore the world, which was realized by all sorts of puzzles and problems that are forced to make mental efforts.

In 2001, appeared and became commonly used term “Escape the room”, which contributed to the output and popularization of the computer game MOTAS in 2001.

But the widespread popularity of this genre of computer games has received after the release of online games “Crimson Room”.

The point of it was that you were in a virtual room, with various objects and interior details that played the role of peculiar clues. Solving them, and collecting the keys, you could leave the room and were considered the winner.

This principle is implemented in the modern quest rooms, which brought to reality. In order to make the quests even more exciting, room ideas are often tied to popular movies, books or games.

So, you can: be a wizard who decided to go to Hogwarts; feel like Alice who found herself in Wonderland; or be transported overnight several decades ago to find yourself in the Wild West.

What happens inside the quest?

Many first-timers wonder what happens inside the quest, and what should you expect when the door closes behind you?

Well first you get acquainted with the quest rooms on the site, and choose the one that intrigues you the most. Then your team gets into the appropriate room and as soon as the door closes behind you – the game begins.

Each room is unique and decorated with the entourage of the relevant topic.

Inside the quest has a certain number of jobs, designed for a team of 2 to 5 players.

The quest has built-in tips on almost every task.

In linear quest rooms, players solve tasks according to a strictly set algorithm that cannot be broken. There are non-linear quests, in which players solve tasks in a random order and with virtually no specific algorithm. In both cases, players have only one hour to complete the quest.

The team must solve all the tasks within the quest and get out of it, and have time to do everything in the allotted time.

Behind the players is watching the operator, who is constantly with them on the video and audio. He performs several functions. First of all monitors the safety and rules of conduct in the quest, as well as always ready to help players with hints in case of an emergency, or remove a player or team from the room.

At the end of the quest operator meets the players and, if desired, takes pictures of them inside the room in a place permitted for photos.
